Millions of Hindus work in Muslim countries, especially in the Gulf region, due to better employment opportunities, higher wages, and strong demand for skilled and unskilled labour. Countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman offer jobs in construction, healthcare, engineering, domestic services, transport, and business sectors. For many Indian workers, including Hindus, migration provides a chance to earn significantly more than they could at home and support their families through remittances.
Economic factors remain the primary reason behind this migration rather than religion. Employers in these countries hire workers based on skills and labour needs, and Indian workers have built a strong reputation for dedication and expertise. Over the years, established Indian communities, cultural familiarity, and government agreements have also made migration easier. Despite challenges such as long working hours and cultural adjustments, millions continue to work in Muslim countries to improve their livelihoods and contribute to both host economies and India’s economy through remittances.
