Indian CRPF troopers in IHK get new Israeli assault rifles

Srinagar, April 12 : In Jammu and Kashmir, the personnel of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are finally laced with Israeli assault rifles 'X95' and 'Tavor' to suppress Kashmiris’ just liberation struggle, reports Kashmir Media Service.

A local daily in a report said that one of these sophisticated rifles 'X95' had already been received by the CRPF while 'Tavor' was yet to be procured.

A top CRPF officer, wishing anonymity, told media men that both the weapons were costly and were first used in some areas in India by the CRPF personnel. "Since both the rifles are difficult to operate so the CRPF men will be made to undergo a special training to use them," the report said.

Confirming that the CRPF men in the valley will be laced with the two sophisticated weapons, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CRPF, Prabhakar Tripathi said that they had already procured 'X95' and the 'Tavor' would be procured soon.

Over 100,000 mental patients in Kashmir: Says report

Srinagar, October 10 : In Kashmir, the number of mental patients in the wake of Indian state and private  terrorism has crossed the one hundred thousand figure, reports KMS (10/10).

This has been revealed in a report issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, today.

The report maintains that bombings, beatings, torture, unjustified arrest and detention, extra-judicial killings, and, Indian troops’ sense of impunity from prosecution, are among the violations recounted and such abuses have affected the local psyche adversely.

The KMS report says that enforced disappearance is one of the most harrowing consequences of the armed conflict in Kashmir and during the last 21 years more than 10,000 people have been subjected to enforced disappearance by the troops. Of the disappeared persons, between 2000-2005 a majority were married males. Although men have been subjected to disappearance largely, but women have been badly affected because of being related to them as daughters, mothers, sisters and wives.

Five hundred thousands march from Srinagar to Sopore

Srinagar, 29, June: Near about five hundred thousands of people are currently marching from Srinagar towards Sopore to express solidarity with the people killed in Sopore on a call given by the All parties Hurriyat Conference-APHC.

According to latest reports,more than five hundred thousands of Kashmiris left in a procession from Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar towards Sopore this morning. As the marchers moved on, thousands of other people people joined them on the way.

Chanting ant-India and pro-freedom slogans, the protesters were stopped by indian forces at Hokersar on the outskirts of Srinagar on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Road commonly known as Shahrah-e-Aziz (Sheikh Aziz High Way). Latest reports suggest that despite firing of tear gas shells to break the march, the protesters continued marching towards Sopore.

In Sopore, thousands of people this morning took the body of Bilal Ahmed Wani in a procession, killed in Indian troops firing on Sunday. Latest reports suggest that security forces have opened fire in the air to break the marchers, who are raising anti-government and pro-freedom slogans. There are no reports of any casualties.

Meanwhile, authorities have put under house arrest several Hurriyat leaders, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik and other executive members of the amalgam, including Bilal Gani Lone, Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari, Aga Syed Hassan Alsafvi Almosvi and Mirwaiz aide, Shahidul Islam, Hilal Ahmad War, Ahsan Untoo, Fahti Alam, Ajaz Hussian.
