Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that water is Pakistan’s vital national interest and the lifeline of 240 million people. There should be absolutely no doubt that water availability will be protected at all costs and in all circumstances.
He said that therefore, any attempt to stop, reduce or divert water, which is the property of Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty, will be responded to with full force. Let there be no misunderstanding or dilemma.
He said that ‘Pakistan is a frontline state against terrorism. India made baseless and unsubstantiated allegations after the Pahalgam incident, however, we, being a responsible state, are ready for an impartial international investigation.’
The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan’s brave armed forces are capable of defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial security and are fully prepared to do so.
He said that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan. It is a disputed territory at the international level. The Kashmiri people will have to be given the right to self-determination.
Shahbaz Sharif has said that ‘Pakistan has always rejected and condemned terrorism in all its forms. Pakistan is the country most affected by terrorism in the world. 90,000 of our citizens have lost their lives in terrorism. Pakistan’s economy has suffered billions of dollars in losses.’
He has said that Pakistan, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, wants peace and security around the world and will continue its efforts for this.
Talking about the alleged ‘false flag operation’ of Pahalgam and the Kashmir issue, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and an internationally recognized disputed territory. The Kashmiri people will have to be given the right to self-determination.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that ‘Pakistan has always condemned all forms of terrorism. Pakistan has suffered heavy losses in terms of life and property in the war against terrorism. No one has sacrificed more than Pakistan to eradicate the scourge of terrorism.’
He said that ‘our neighboring country has leveled accusations against Pakistan without any evidence. A series of baseless allegations have been made on the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan is ready to cooperate in an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident.’
On India’s ‘water aggression’, he said that water is our lifeline and there can be no compromise on it. Pakistan will protect its security and sovereignty at all costs. If any aggression is committed, it will give a befitting reply like in February 2019. It will respond with national strength to every attempt to stop Pakistan’s water.
