Civilian casualties in Baramulla and Balwar Jammu, Awami National Conference condemns

Investigations should be fair and transparent/ Begum Khalida Shah

Srinagar: Strongly condemning the civilian casualties in Baramulla and Balwar Jammu, Awami National Conference President Begum Khalida Shah and Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah said that we had hoped that such incidents would not happen but unfortunately it has happened. In a statement issued to the press, Begum Khalida Shah and Muzaffar Shah said that a local truck driver was killed in army firing in Sangrama Baramulla while a civilian died in police custody in Balwar Khutha, which are extremely sad incidents. They said that these are sad incidents and we strongly condemn them. Both the leaders said that we had hoped that such incidents would not happen but unfortunately it has happened. I request the security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. He said that the government and the Lieutenant Governor should ensure a fair investigation. He said that we will not interfere in the investigation, but we insist that it be ensured that the investigation should be fair and transparent.

Muzaffar Shah's question on the announcement of giving houses to homeless families

19,000 families are homeless, so what are the two and a half lakh houses for?

Srinagar: Senior Vice President of Awami National Conference Muzaffar Shah, while commenting on the announcement by the Lieutenant Governor to give houses to two and a half lakh homeless families in Jammu Kashmir, said that according to the Parliament, only 19 thousand people are homeless in Jammu Kashmir. To whom are the remaining houses being given? Speaking to the media in Srinagar, Muzaffar Shah said in a questioning manner, in response to a question in Parliament in 2021, it was said that according to the census, only 19 thousand families are homeless in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Lieutenant Governor announced the previous day that houses will be given to two and a half lakh homeless families in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 145,000 families were also approved. Muzaffar Shah said that if only 19,000 families are homeless in Jammu and Kashmir, then to whom are the remaining houses being given? He said that some more families may have increased in the last two years, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir have doubts about the number of 250,000. While saying that only the Pashtun residents of Jammu and Kashmir should be provided with houses. Shah said that people are in doubt in this matter and want the government to remove this doubt. Muzaffar Shah said that Article 370 has not been completely abolished in Jammu and Kashmir, but the matter is still in the court, so the authorities should not take such decisions which are not within their jurisdiction, but the people's government should take their decisions.
