Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) seed
Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba; in Chinese and Japanese 銀杏, pinyin romanization: yín xìng, Hepburn romanization: ichō or ginnan), also spelled gingko and also known as the maidenhair tree, is a unique species of tree with no close living relatives. The ginkgo is a living fossil, recognisably similar to fossils dating back 270 million years. Native to China, the tree is widely cultivated and was introduced early to human history. It has various uses in traditional medicine and as a source of food.

Red alert in Srinagar
Buy Balloon Vine seed |
Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday sounded an alert after several cases
of motorcycle thefts were reported from various parts of the Jammu and
Kashmir's summer capital - Srinagar.
"Police have started
investigations into bike lifting cases that have occurred in the past
few days in Srinagar. Four bikes were reported to have been stolen from
different places in the city," a police spokesman said.
Security
agencies are looking into the possibility of militants having stolen the
motorcycles for use in subversive activities, police sources said.
In the past, militants have used stolen bikes to carry out attacks on security forces in Srinagar and elsewhere in the valley.
The
attack on an army convoy at Hyderpora here on June 24 which left eight
soldiers dead and several others injured was also carried out using a
motorcycle snatched by militants from two students in a nearby locality,
the sources said.
The common pattern in the four theft cases
reported over the past few days is that all the stolen bikes are at
least 13 years old. (PTI)

Herb Sage
The soft, yet sweet savory flavor of sage along with its wonderful
health-promoting properties is held in such high esteem that the
International Herb Association awarded sage the title of "Herb of the
Year" in 2001! Fresh, dried whole or powdered, sage is available
throughout the year.
Sage leaves are grayish green in color with a silvery bloom
covering. They are lance-shaped and feature prominent veins running
throughout. Sage has been held in high regard throughout history both
for it culinary and medicinal properties. Its reputation as a panacea
is even represented in its scientific name, Salvia officinalis, derived
from the Latin word, salvere, which means "to be saved."

Distinguish between killers and Mujahideen: slain cleric’s mother
By Ahmed Ali Fayaz
In a significant development within the separatist fold
in Kashmir valley, the mother of Maulana Showkat Shah, the Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith [JAH] chief who was assassinated in a bomb blast
here on April 8, 2011, has publicly assailed the secessionist ideologue
Syed Ali Shah Geelani over glorifying her son’s alleged killers as
‘Mujahideen.’
Mr. Shah’s mother Aamina has not spared
the JAH leadership or the Omar Abdullah government for their
“lackadaisical attitude” in bringing her son’s assassins to justice.
“When Showkat sahib was
martyred, all the resistance parties, including that of Syed Ali Shah
Geelani, [had] jointly investigated the matter and, with the help of the
Mujahideen, come out with the names of those who conspired against and
killed him,” Ms. Aamina said in a statement on Sunday and reminded Mr.
Geelani that the two militants — Javed Munshi Billa Papa and Nisar Khan —
had been identified as the cleric’s assassins.
Ms.
Aamina has bitterly reacted to Mr. Geelani’s statement in the local
newspapers and asked him how he could describe the same persons as
Mujahideen and demand their release from jail before Eid-ul-Azha.
Ms. Aamina called it a historic development that the “unknown killers” had
for the first time been identified and named by a committee, whose
constituents included Mr. Geelani’s organisation, other separatist
groups as well as the militant outfits.
“After this, these leaders including Geelani sahib came to console me and I still remember the words of Geelani sahib, who, drawing similarities between the killings of our great Khulafai Rashideen, said that Showkat sahib was killed like those Khulafa [caliphs] were. Today after reading his statement I want to ask him: why this double speak now?” Ms. Aamina said.
She
pointed out that Mr. Geelani had also glorified eminent
cleric-politician Mirwaiz Maulvi Mohammad Farooq’s assassin as a
‘Mujahid’ in the same statement. “If this is what they believe in, may I
ask these leaders why they visit the families of those killed and shed
tears?”
She said that “no leader or commoner” would
remain safe in Kashmir if separatist leaders like Mr. Geelani failed to
distinguish “between a killer and a Mujahid.”

Kiwi fruit- Chinese gooseberry seeds
Kiwi fruit nutrition facts
Kiwi fruit, also known as Chinesegooseberry, is one of the delicious fruits with full of
promising health promoting
phyto-chemicals, vitamins and minerals. This widely recognized,
wonderfully unique fruit is native to eastern Chinese "Shaanxi"
province. This exotic fruit is also recognized as China’s national
fruit.
The kiwifruit plant is a
semitropical, deciduous, large woody vine belonging within the
family of Actinidiaceae;
Genus, Actinidia.
Scieintific name: Actinidiachinensis.
The journey of this humble gooseberry from China's
mainland to
Oceania, and thence to worldwide be quite interesting! During early
years of twentieth-century kiwifruit seeds were carried to New Zealand
by missionaries where it has become naturalized. From New Zealand, the
fruit spread all across the world, and now grown at a commercial scale
in many European and as far as in California regions in North America.
During each season which lasts
from September until November, The kiwivine bears numerous ovals shaped, fuzzy, brown colored fruits.
ovals shaped, fuzzy, brown colored fruits. Each
fruit measures approximately the size of large hen’s egg, and weighs up
to 125 g. internally; its flesh is soft, juicy, emerald green with rows
of tiny, black, edible seeds. Fruit texture is similar to strawberry
or sapodilla and the flavor resembles a blend of strawberry,
apple and
pineapple fruits.
Several other cultivars are grown apart from the
common kiwifruit variety.
"Hardy kiwi fruit" (A.arguta) also known as baby kiwi, are much
smaller than "Fuzzy kiwifruit" (A. deliciosa). Their size is similar to that of a
large grape with smooth,
edible skin. Inside, "hardy kiwi fruit" resembles "fuzzy kiwi-fruit" in
color, texture, but usually has intense flavor and sweetness. "Gold
Kiwifruit," developed by hybrid technique by agricultural
research
department in New Zealand, has a smooth, sparse hairs, bronze skin, a
pointed cap at one end and distinctive golden-yellow flesh with less
tart and more tropical flavor than green-kiwifruit. Commercially, it
has a higher market value than common green kiwifruit.
Health benefits of Kiwi fruit
-
Kiwifruit is a very rich
source of soluble dietary fiber (3.8 g per 100
g of fruit OR 10% of RDA), which makes it a good bulk laxative. The
fiber content
helps to protect the colon mucous membrane by decreasing exposure time
to toxins as well as binding to cancer-causing chemicals in
the colon.
-
The fruit is an excellentsource of antioxidant vitamin-C;
providing about 154% of
the DRI
(daily-recommended intake). Consumption of
foods rich in vitamin-C
helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and
scavenge
harmful free radicals.
-
Kiwi fruit contains verygoodlevels of vitamin-A, vitamin-E, vitamin-K
and flavonoid anti-oxidants
such as
beta-carotene, lutein and xanthin. Vitamin K has a potential role in
the
increase of bone mass by promoting osteotrophic activity in the bone.
It also has established role in Alzheimer's disease patients by
limiting neuronal damage in the brain. Total antioxidant strength
measured in terms of oxygen
radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) of kiwifruit (gold,
raw)
is 1210 µmol TE/100 g.
-
Research studies have shown that certain
substances in kiwi-fruit functions as blood thinner function similar to
aspirin; thus, it helps prevent clot formation inside the blood vessels
and protect from stroke and heart-attack risk.
-
Kiwi-fruit seeds are an
excellent
source of omega-3 fattyacids. Research studies show that consumption of
foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart
disease, stroke, and help prevent the development of ADHD, autism, and
other developmental disorders in children.
-
Fresh kiwi fruit is a very rich source of
heart-healthy electrolyte "potassium." 100 g contains 312 mg or 7% of
daily-recommended levels of this electrolyte. Potassium is an important
component of cell and body fluids that help regulate heart rate and
blood pressure by countering malefic effects of sodium.
-
It also contains good amounts of minerals like manganese, iron and magnesium. Manganese is used in the body as a co-factor for the powerful antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Magnesium is an important bone-strengthening mineral like calcium.More details: http://www.nutrition-and-you.com/kiwi-fruit.htmlBuy Kiwi seeds fromThe Jammu and Kashmir medicinal Plants Introduction Centre

Peoples’ Conference Chairman Sajad Lone
Sajad Lone Sahib |
Sajad Lone said that because of such precise attitude towards Kashmiris, there is a well-founded perception in Kashmir that Kashmiris have become canon fodder and that the only sin that Kashmiris need to commit to languish in jails is to be Kashmiris. It seems like Kashmiris are being progressively seen as opportunities to demonstrate the politically saleable aspects of ruthlessness and iron-handedness at the national center-stage.
Stating that the most tragic reality is that successive governments in J&K have allowed the unabated persecution of Kashmiris, Sajad Lone said that PDP rather than taking out protest demonstrations should introspect and answer how it extended legal help and sought justice from the West Bengal government for these two youth when they were in power. NC is sticking true to its role of culling and oppressing Kashmiris, a trait that has been the hallmark of NC’s politics since so many decades, he said.
Sajad Lone said that, rather than grabbing such tragic instances as political opportunities, Kashmiri leaders should treat these issues on a moral, humanitarian, non-political basis and ensure that injustice is not meted out to Kashmiris. There are a lot of under-trial Kashmiris languishing in jails without proper legal-aid and representation. It is the duty of Kashmiri leaders, regardless of their political intentions or affiliations, to ensure that these Kashmiri youth are legally well represented and are safeguarded from a growing blood-thirst to persecute them.
“Unfortunately however our successive government as well as the political parties in the State have been more interested in extracting political nectar out of these cases,” he said, adding that this attitude of persecution was contrary to the pre-requisites of reconciliation and would have far-reaching consequences in Kashmir, further alienating and isolating a common Kashmiri, filling him with a fear of harassment and discrimination.
“There is an omnipresent fear and sense of hounding in Kashmir and such unfortunate cases will further propagate this fear,” he said.

Cultivation of Asparagus
Asparagus is a perennial vegetable grown for its delicious young
shoots. Rich in B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, and iron, asparagus is
one of the first crops of spring harvest. Fresh-picked spears are far
more tender and tasty than store-bought ones.
Asparagus thrives in any area having winter ground freezes or dry
seasons. The mild, wet regions of Florida and the Gulf Coast are about
the only places where it’s difficult to grow.
Planting
Select and prepare your asparagus bed with care; this crop will occupy the same spot for 20 years or more. It can tolerate some shade, but full sun produces more vigorous plants and helps minimize disease. Asparagus does best in lighter soils that warm up quickly in spring and drain well; standing water will quickly rot the roots. Prepare a planting bed about 4 feet wide by removing all perennial weeds and roots and digging in plenty of aged manure or compost.

Prepare a planting bed about 4 feet wide by removing all perennial weeds and roots and digging in plenty of aged manure or compost.
Asparagus plants are monoecious—each individual plant is either male
or female. Some varieties of asparagus, such as ‘Jersey Knight’ and
‘Jersey Giant’ produce all male or primarily male plants, so they’re
more productive—male plants yield more harvestable shoots because they
don’t have to invest energy in producing seeds. Choose an all-male
variety if high yield is your primary goal. If you like to experiment,
you may also want to grow an heirloom variety or a purple-stalked
variety like ‘Purple Passion’. With an all-male variety, twenty-five
plants are usually adequate for a household of four; plant double that
amount for standard varieties. (Ardent asparagus lovers recommend
tripling these quantities.)
Starting asparagus from 1-year-old crowns gives you a year’s head
start over seed-grown plants. Two-year-old crowns are usually not a
bargain. They tend to suffer more from transplant shock and won’t
produce any faster than 1-year-old crowns. Buy crowns from a reputable
nursery that sells fresh, firm, disease-free roots. Plant them
immediately if possible; otherwise, wrap them in slightly damp sphagnum
moss until you are ready to plant.
To plant asparagus crowns, dig trenches 12 inches wide and 6 inches
deep (8 inches in sandy soil) down the center of the prepared bed. Soak
the crowns in compost tea
for 20 minutes before planting. Place the crowns in the trenches 1½ to 2
feet apart; top them with 2 to 3 inches of soil. Two weeks later, add
another inch or two of soil. Continue adding soil periodically until the
soil is slightly mounded above surface level to allow for settling.

Sugar beet feed
Sugar beet feed the secret to cattle feeding success
Whether feeding youngstock, beef cows or dairy cows, the secret to
success lies in maximising the benefits that come from their unique
digestive system. The rumen is capable of converting huge volumes of
lower cost plant material into high value meat or milk, but only if
supplied with the correct balance of feeds to maintain a good healthy
fermentation.
The speed of this fermentation is driven by how quickly the energy in
the feeds is broken down in the rumen, but maximum efficiency – and the
most efficient conversion of feed into production – occurs only when
the rumen microbes receive a more controlled supply of nutrients. If too
much energy is available too quickly, the result is an excess
production of lactic acid in the rumen, creating an acid environment
(low pH) that disrupts normal rumen activity.
The result is a condition called acidosis, a digestive upset of the
rumen that can either be acute (causing a dramatic and immediate
drop-off in feed intakes, growth and milk production) or can occur at a
less obvious, sub-clinical level. This sub-acute ruminal acidosis (SARA
for short) will produce a general reduction in animal vigour, feed
intake and productive performance that can easily go unnoticed.
The other key indicator that acidosis might be an issue is very loose
dung. Typically seen when cattle are turned out onto lush spring grass
or fed a ration containing too much cereal, it’s a clear signal that a
more balanced diet is needed.
And this is where sugar beet feed has such an important role to play.
Many energy feeds contain high levels of starch (e.g. cereal grains)
and low levels of digestible fibre, which together this can create an
acidosis risk. What’s needed is a balancing source of energy that breaks
down in the rumen more slowly, with the digestible fibre in sugar beet
feed one of the best options available.
Including sugar beet feed in youngstock, beef or dairy rations is
probably the most cost-effective way to help create a balanced supply of
energy in the rumen and help reduce the incidence of acidosis. Ideal as
a supplement fed alongside grazed grass, silage, cereals or
cereal-based concentrates, the result is better feed intakes, more milk and better growth – not only are digestive upsets avoided, but the
improved rumen fermentation will convert all feed more efficiently into
production.
Sugar beet feed is also highly palatable, with the additional
molasses added to many sugar beet products helping to further drive feed
intakes and increase production. Beef cattle fed dry cereal-based
finishing rations benefit hugely from the improvements in rumen
fermentation and intake that follow inclusion of sugar beet feed, whilst
the digestible fibre in sugar beet feed is known to promote milk fat production.
Feeding sugar beet feed as a replacement for part of the cereal-based
concentrates fed to dairy cows is one of the best ways to maintain or
improve milk butterfat percentage, particularly important when supplying
milk for cheese production on a ‘constituent’ contract or even when
just trying to achieve a minimum butterfat level.

Arifa Bibi Stoned To Death in Pakistan for Possessing a Cell Phone

Arifa Bibi was sentenced to death by stoning by a Pakistani tribal
court, and was executed on July 11 at the hands of her family. Her
uncle, cousins and other family members threw stones at the woman until
she died, all because she had a mobile phone. She was buried in the
desert far away from her home village, and according to reports, her family was not permitted to be involved in her funeral.

Stoning has been a common sentence in countries like Pakistan for a
long time and is used against women and other vulnerable groups. Since
the stoning of Arifa Bibi this summer, women’s rights groups have
launched an even stronger campaign to put a ban on stoning.
Naureen Shameem, representative for women’s rights group Women Living
Under Muslim Laws, says that stoning is used against women in
particular as a way to control them.
“Stoning is a cruel and hideous punishment,” said Shameem. “It is a
form of torturing someone to death. It is one of the most brutal forms
of violence perpetrated against women in order to control and punish
their sexuality and basic freedoms.”
The Asian Human Rights Commission explained the act of stoning against women in a recent press release.
“Stoning to death is a barbaric act from a primitive society,” reads
the press release. “Society is sent the message that violence is the way
to deal with women and other vulnerable groups. Women’s rights are
negated through the use of these forms of punishment. Pakistani society
has degenerated to the point that, for a woman, keeping a cell phone has
become serious crime. It is treated as a worse crime than gang rape,
murder and bomb blasts, through which many people are killed on a daily
basis.”
Groups are currently petitioning the United Nations to enact a worldwide ban on stoning. It is not known what progress has been made on that front.

Ceratonia siliqua seeds for sale in India
Carob tree
Family: Leguminosae
Medicinal use of Ceratonia siliqua: The pulp in the seedpods of carob is very nutritious and, due to its high sugar content, sweet-tasting and mildly laxative. However, the pulp in the pods is also astringent and, used in a decoction, will treat diarrhoea and gently help to cleanse and also relieve irritation within the gut. Whilst these appear to be contradictory effects, carob is an example of how the body responds to herbal medicines in different ways, according to how the herb is prepared and according to the specific medical problem.

Cross LOC Trade in Kashmir
10 kg cocaine recovered from cross LOC trade truck |
While claiming that the Rs. 10 crore worth cocaine consignment, seized
from a truck across the LoC Hizbul Mujahideen, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested an
alleged operative of the militant outfit from the capital city on
Friday. in Baramulla district, had been smuggled in
for
The North Kashmir Deputy Inspector General of Police J.P. Singh confirmed the Baramulla Police operation and told The Hindu
that one Shehzad was picked up from Fruit Mandi area of Srinagar.
“Driver of the seized truck Abdul Ahad of Mawar, Handwara, revealed
during sustained questioning that the cocaine consignment was for Hizbul Mujahideen’s Shehzad. We got him to Srinagar to call Shehzad to
Parimpora. As soon as Shehzad reached the given spot, we took him into
custody”, DIG Singh said.
Mr. Singh claimed that Shehzad was an “overground militant operative
closely linked to Hizbul Mujahideen’s top brass in Pakistan and Jammu
and Kashmir”. “He admitted to being the importer of the cocaine
consignment but maintained during the preliminary questioning that the
contraband was supposed to be delivered to another operative whose
particulars would be communicated by the organisation from Pakistan”,
Mr. Singh said.

Case FIR number 47 under section 6 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Act has been registered at Police Station Sheri in Baramulla
district. Shehzad’s antecedents and background could not be verified
immediately from independent sources.
Nine packets of cocaine, each weighing one kilo and valued at Rs. 10
crore in international drug markets, had been seized from a cross-LoC
trade truck earlier on Friday. Entire fleet of the trucks that had gone
across the LoC to the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir’s Trade Facilitation
Centre at Chakoti to deliver goods on Thursday, was intercepted and
thoroughly checked at a barricade on Baramulla-Uri Road on Friday.
The DIG said police had received information about the possibility of
smuggling of drugs and arms through three particular trucks. He said
that the contraband was seized from a truck bearing registration number
JK02F-0127. It had been concealed in a tyre in the tool box of the
vehicle that had carried a load of bananas from Srinagar to Chakoti.
The barter trade of over two dozen listed items operates for four days a
week through Uri in Baramulla district of Kashmir valley and
Chakan-Da-Bagh in Poonch district of Jammu. As a significant feature of
the confidence building measures between India and Pakistan, the
cross-LoC trade has been in operation since October 21, 2008. Cross-LoC
travel had been resumed after 57 years in April 2005.
While as the PoK government has set up the TFC at Chakoti for delivery
of the goods imported from Srinagar, the J&K government has a
similar facility at Salambad, short of the Aman Sethu bridge, the
zero-line on LoC in Uri. Goods imported from Muzaffarabad are delivered
there for trans-shipment to Srinagar and Baramulla.
Even as some prohibited items, including rounds of ammunition and
Pakistani SIM cards have been recovered from some vehicles and
passengers in Jammu, it is for the first time in the last five years of
the cross-LoC trade that a sizable quantity of cocaine has been
allegedly smuggled in and seized.
Attack On 'Dr. Sheikh Jalal' Inhuman
Sir Dr. Sheikh JALAL |
By: ABUL HAQ
Forces
of terror are raising their ugly head in the Kashmir valley all over
again; however there has been a major shift in their strategy. Militants
no longer go after poor villagers of remote areas; they have little use
of such people since only a mass scale operation in rural areas creates
the desired impact and such an operation has become difficult in view
of the reduced strength of their groups, their limited personal
capability and the enhanced vigilance of the people. What militants now
look for is lucrative targets in urban areas; a police post that is
thinly guarded and an eminent personality are considered to be the most
rewarding hits.
It is against this backdrop that the
strike on the eminent cardiologist and former Director SKIMS, Dr Sheikh
Jalal-ud-din has to be seen. The Doctor is a respected member of the
Kashmiri society, known for the years of self less service that he has
rendered to the state, his community and humanity in general. Like other
intellectuals of his calibre he also would have been quite lax so far
as his security is concerned considering it to be an unnecessary
appendage; after all, who would want to kill a person who has only saved
lives and not harmed even a fly. The good doctor has for many long
years of his life remained cocooned within the folds of his noble
profession; he had no enemies to be afraid of. It is these very
qualities of the doctor that converted him into a prime target for the
evil forces.
A few days of reconnaissance would have
created the opportunity to go for the attack, the militant were quite
certain that an escape route was easily available. It is the escape
route that is most important for the modern militant who values his life
more than anything else. If this was not the case he would go for a
fidayeen attack on some military post or some big well guarded political
leader, but that would have meant certain death. Going for a soft,
harmless target like Dr Jalal-ud-din fulfilled his sadistic impulses and
personal security requirements; above all, the necessary impact would
be there for all to see and the security forces would be seen as
incapable and inefficient.
It was sheer providence that Dr
Jalal-ud-Din Survived the attack even though his two security guards
were not as lucky. It would be difficult to ascertain the complete
sequence of events but it can be said with a reasonable amount of
certainty that the brave policemen performed their duty to the hilt and
managed to keep their charge relatively safe while taking the brunt of
the attack on themselves. Thus the evil plan of the militants got
thwarted What is most distressing is that the militant cadre has lost
the very religious sanctity on the basis of which they launched their
so-called Jihad in the Kashmir valley. Why otherwise would they attack
another Muslim old enough to be their father in the holy month of
Ramadan? Would Dr Jalal have expected in his wildest dreams that
something like this would happen to him at this point in time? What
enmity did these killers have with the person of Dr Sheikh
Jalal and why in the
process did they take the lives of two innocent soldiers? The
conclusion that can be drawn from this unfortunate incident is that the
militant movement in Jammu and Kashmir has completely lost out on its
religious and ideological moorings and has become the den of common
criminals bent upon creating mayhem with the demented view that they
would be able to brow beat the State, its people and the security forces
into submission. In other words, they carry a wholly warped view of
their importance and capability. The only solution is to hunt down these
rats as soon as possible and rid the region from the menace once and
for all. One small step taken in unison would produce the desired
results.
One would like to bid a speedy recovery to Dr
Jalal-ud-din as would millions of others, the entire sadistic and
irreligious incident only goes to prove that God Almighty stands by his
own.

Millitants kill 12 in Kashmir
Srinagar, September 26:
Millitants from Pakistan killed six policemen, four soldiers and two
civilians in an audacious attack Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir.
Resisting BJP's calls, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he will go
ahead with peace talks with Pakistan in New York.
Three days before Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif were to meet, heavily armed men first barged into a police
station in Jammu region, killing eight people, and then drove off with a
truck to attack an army base where they killed an officer and three
soldiers.
Buy Medicinal seeds |
It was one of the worst terror attacks in recent times in Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the terrorists involved in
the attack had sneaked into the state from Pakistan in the last 12
hours. He also hoped that the mayhem would not derail the India-Pakistan
talks.
Three militants reached the Hira Nagar police station in Kathua
district, located seven km from the Pakistan border, and attacked it
with grenades and automatic weapons.
In no time, eight people lay dead: six policemen, a shopkeeper and
the driver of a truck parked in the complex. Four others were hit,
suffering critical splinter and bullet injuries.
The guerrillas escaped in the truck, drove on the Pathankot-Jammu highway and opened fire at Samba town.
Military sources said the militants then entered an army unit around
35 km from Jammu, killing Lt. Col. Bikramjeet Singh and three soldiers.
Some soldiers were wounded. In response, the military flew in commandos by helicopters to the attack site.
An incensed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) immediately asked the government to axe the Manmohan-Sharif talks.
"The terrorists have attacked India almost at will," BJP president
Rajnath Singh said. "The PM is in a hurry to start dialogue with
Pakistan. There should be no talks with Pakistan unless there is a
conducive environment."
His colleague and former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha said such
"attacks always happen with the backing of Pakistan Army... Therefore,
call off the bilateral talks".
In Washington, Manmohan Singh said that "such attacks will not deter
us and will not succeed in derailing our efforts to find a resolution to
all problems through a process of dialogue".
Conveying his condolences to the families of those killed, he said:
"This is one more in a series of provocations and barbaric actions by
the enemies of peace."
In an obvious reference to Pakistan, he said: "We are firmly resolved
to combat and defeat the terrorist menace that continues to receive
encouragement and reinforcement from across the border."
In Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said "it would be great injustice" if the
India-Pakistan dialogue process got stalled following the terror attack
in Jammu region.
He blamed the attack on "forces inimical to peace between India and
Pakistan" and said it was aimed at derailing the Sep 29 meeting between
Manmohan Singh and Sharif in New York.
He said it would be difficult to speculate if the attack had the backing of the new government in Pakistan.(IANS)

The plant has an interesting chemistry and it is currently (1995) being investigated as a potential anti-AIDS drug. It contains potent anti-inflammatory agents, antiviral proteins and substances that affect cell division. These compounds are toxic to many disease-causing organisms, including the water snails that cause schistosomiasis. The root is used internally in the treatment of urinary disorders, nephritis, oedema and abdominal distension. Externally, it is used to treat boils, carbuncles and sores. The roots are harvested in the autumn and dried for later use. All parts of the plant are toxic, this remedy should be used with caution and preferably under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.
