The United Nations is the planet’s town hall Virtually all the world’s problems are studied, negotiated and acted upon here. Its decisions affect our everyday life. The UN is also the world’s single most important depository and clearing house of knowledge. Every year, it publishes hundreds of reports, books and compilations of statistics.

The rich storehouse of information is now accessible through the Internet. Set up in five thematic categories, the United Nations Website on the internet World Wide Web about the work of the Organization and its organs. The categories are:

Peace and Security,
Economic and Social Development,
International Law,
Human Rights nd Humanitarian Affairs.

From documents and resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly to the most recent statistics collected by the UN Covering the above categories to full texts of hundreds of international treaties, the UN Web site be a wonderful source of information. (Writer-South Asia)

The official Web site Locator for the United Nations System of Organizations provides easy access to the web sites of UN programmes, as well as those of its specialized agencies, autonomous bodies, inter-agency coordination mechanisms and a number of other groups which deal with United Nations.
