Modi Government for Agriculture and Environment Sector

President Pranab Mukherjee addressed a joint sitting of Parliament on Monday (9th June 2014), outlined the roadmap of the new government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his customary address, delivered in the first session of Parliament on behalf of the government, the President listed the priorities of NDA government.
 
"Agriculture is the source of livelihood for majority of our people. In the recent past, our farmers have been under severe stress with hopelessness driving some of them to suicides. My government is committed to reversing this unfortunate trend", President Mukherjee said.
 
Important agenda of Narendra Modi government's with respect to agriculture and environment sector, outlined by the President are as follows.
Government will increase investment in agriculture, both public and private, especially in Agri-infrastructure.
 
Modi government will take steps to convert farming into a profitable venture through scientific practices and Agro-technology.
 
The government will address issues pertaining to pricing and procurement of agricultural produce, crop insurance and post-harvest management.
 
The government will incentivize the setting up of food processing industries.
Government will adopt a National Land Use Policy which will facilitate scientific identification of non-cultivable land and its strategic development.

Irrigation
 
Completion of long pending irrigation projects on priority and launch the ‘Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana’ (Prime Minister Agriculture Irrigation Scheme) with the motto of ‘Har Khet Ko Paani’ (water for every field).
 
Considering all options including linking of rivers, where feasible; for ensuring optimal use of water resources to prevent the recurrence of floods and drought.
Harnessing rain water through ‘Jal Sanchay’ and ‘Jal Sinchan’, to nurture water conservation and ground water recharge.
Micro irrigation will be popularised to ensure ‘Per drop-More crop’.

Agri-Rail Network : The country will have a network of freight corridors with specialised Agri-Rail networks for perishable agricultural products.
Environment, Forests and Climate Change : While putting the country on a high growth path, government will keep sustainability at the core of planning process.Government strongly believes that environmental conservation can go hand in hand with development.
 
To achieve this, environment and forest clearance systems will be made more predictable, transparent and time-bound. Simultaneously, an effective system will be developed for sound appraisal processes and strict compliance of clearance conditions, especially those relating to rehabilitation of displaced communities and regeneration of forests.
 
Cleaner fuels will be promoted to bring down pollution levels in our cities.
The government will earnestly take up mitigation works to meet the challenges posed by climate change and will closely work with the global community in this regard.Conservation of Himalayan ecology will be a priority area for government.
A National Mission on Himalayas will be launched.
 
The government will also establish a Central University of Himalayan Studies.
For the Scheduled Tribes, government will launch a dedicated “Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana”. Electrification of tribal hamlets and connecting them with all-weather roads will be a priority area.(Indian Botanists)

Bilal Ahmad Bhat @ Bilal Lelhari of Lelhar Pulwama

The Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian army achieved a major success when it succeeded in eliminating a LeT Divisional Commander Bilal Ahmad Bhat @ Bilal Lelhari who was involved in killing of  Dr. Sheikh Jalal and his two police guards in an attack at Pampore, besides , in the killing of 2 Army jawans at Kadalbal and in attack near Hotel Silver Star. Bilal Lelhari was killed along with his associate in an encounter at Reshipora,(Awantipora) Pulwama, today.

On a specific information, Pulwama Police, 50 RR and 183 CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at village Reshipora, Kakpora in Pulwama district, today. The militants present in the village fired on the forces triggering an encounter. Two terrorists  were killed in the encounter.
The slain militants were identified as LeT Divisional Commander Bilal Ahmad Bhat @ Bilal Lelhari of Lelhar Pulwama and Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh of Kisergam Pulwama.

Bilal Lelhari was involved in killing of world's top cardiologist Dr. Sheikh Jalal and his two police guards in an attack at Pampore  near Nambalbal on 18th July last year, besides, in the killing of 2 Army jawans and snatching of AK rifle at Kadalbal. Bilal was also involved in the attack on Army convoy near Silver Star and was also involved in the conspiracy of Hyderpora attack on Army.

According to reports reached on here, After seeing patients in Pampore free of cost since last 42 years Dr Sheikh Jalal came out of his home to go to Tulsi Bagh/Srinagar to see patients there free of cost. It was a hot day and fasting month. Everyone was tired and sleeping but Dr Sheikh Jalal came out to see the patients waiting for him at Srinagar who had come from far flung areas. Mujahid Cammander Molvi Bilal of Lelhaar was hiding before a wall near Ghulam Hassan Wani and when Dr Jalal was near him he came out and showered 60 bullets. All the people on the road were stunned and then Molvi Bilal sat in a sumo and left from Khrew Road. In the pious month of Ramzan he killed an innocent doctor who was on his way to see poor patients..

Meanwhile, Two terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed on Sunday in an encounter with the police and security forces in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.Sources said that the Pulwama District Police and troops of the Rashtriya Rifles 50th battalion swooped down on a hideout at Rishipora Kakpora on a tip-off about the presence of the militants. Both were killed in the three-hour-long gunbattle. Deputy Inspector-General of Police in South Kashmir Vijay Kumar told The Hindu that the LeT’s most wanted militant and “District Commander” Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Lelhar  and a fresh recruit Mudasar Ahmad Sheikh of Kisrigam Pulwama died in the gunbattle. One  AK-47 rifle and one pistol were recovered from the site of the operation.

The DIG claimed Bilal’s killing as a major achievement for the police and the security forces. He said that after Qasim, a dreaded Pakistani commander, Bilal was the LeT’s senior most militant in South Kashmir.

He was involved in an attack on the Army in 2012 when one soldier died. Bilal then escaped after looting their AK-47 rifles. He was also among the three local militants who attacked cardiologist  Dr. Sheikh Jalal at Pampore in July 2013, killing two of his armed police guards on the spot. Dr. Jalal got critically injured and died in a month.

Modi's suggests herbal medicine cure for J&K


Modi's suggests herbal medicine cure for unemployment in J&K Modi's now talking about herbal  medicines and says the whole world is moving towards it. Unfortunately China is leading in it, he said. "The whole world is moving towards herbal medicine and the Himalayas are full of herbs. But is the Centre of the state government doing anything to further it in the state?" he asked. He said that the state could advance it and could cure unemployment in the state with it.
